Just a week or so after tracking down a clunking sound in the front of the M Coupe, a slightly different noise appeared (do noises appear?) This time it was after a couple of 85mph highway runs to COTA, and this time I went straight for the strut hat covers. Sure enough, the left passenger strut nut had backed off, clearly visible by the broken orange torque stripe I had laid down earlier. The driver’s side was still holding strong, clearly these strut nuts need to be run on with an impact driver, so that’s exactly what I did. The garage was (is) full of other projects, so I had to do it at the bottom of my excessively steep driveway.
