My custom exhaust on the MR2 Spyder was in need of some new packing in the Vibrant resonator. The high exhaust temperatures from the supercharged 2ZZ had melted the fiberglass packing. I picked up a roll of stainless steel wool and some ceramic packing material. Unfortunately, the small opening didn’t allow me to get the ceramic fibers in, so I just stuffed it tight with stainless steel. I got some scrap 16ga steel to make a cover plate and welded it in place. I need to get a better cutting tool, because I ran through 3 blades on the jig saw cutting the plate.
