I had a free day to burn prior to moving back to South Carolina, so I did a quick Google search of any local car-related attractions that I may have missed during my tenure in Central Texas. What I found was a small car museum in San Marcos; Dick’s Classic Garage. I’ve been down to San Marcos on several occasions, but usually I was across the highway at Harris Hill Raceway and not in the town proper. Just a short 2 hour drive from the house, I had mostly associated San Marcos with their outlet mall along the highway, but it’s actually a pretty neat college town.
The museum is dedicated to early American cars from the turn of the century to the 1950’s. Think Dusenburgs, Auburns, Cadillacs, and the like. They event had one of the rare and unique Tucker Torpedos. If you find yourself in the area, it is definitely worth a visit.
I apologize for the poor photo quality, I was only equipped with my ailing smart phone.
